I searched his eyes for reassurance…he looked at me not sure what to say. He could sense that I needed comfort; but he was not sure if he was comfortable in himself. I said, “sweetie do you think it will be okay–I mean safe?” “You know I never sailed before”. He answered, “yes, neither have I..but I am glad we are doing it together”.
I squeezed his hand tighter after he winks warmly at me..he wisphers “I love you, baby”. We both turn away and look into the sunlight as the ships creeps away from its port. As we both hold our breath in anticipation…it is released slowly at the same time, with a slight soft laugh. I can feel my heart beating at a quick pace wondering if it can he heard over the pounding sea…I look into his eyes searching for some sign that his beats quickly as well.
We are on our way to an exotic location, which we renamed “paradise”.
After a romantic candlelight dinner we walked again to the deck. Now, we both can laugh at how frighten we were at the beginning of our voyage. Perhaps it was the wine or just that we were both at ease after the first evening; but we both felt extremely laid back. I stopped and let out a “wow, look at that…”. He looks and can not believe the site he is beholding. “That is the most of beautiful sight I have ever seen”–then he looks at me and sweetly tells me, “no, right now in the moonlight-you are the most beautiful sight”. I laughed knowing that he is lying; but smile because I love the way he lied. We hug we kiss and linger on the deck until the sun is fully set. This was the cruise of a lifetime!
